What to see & do

The Lepeda beach is at the south of Lixouri, 2 km away. It is a sandy beach with red sand and crystal clear waters. Near the beach is a small tavern that serves fresh fish. It is organized and suitable for small children.

The Kounopetra beach is located to Palliki peninsula, near Lixouri. The beach has red sand and clay and has a rock that was moving unstoppable until 1953, because of a geological phenomenon. After the earthquake of 1953 that hit Kefalonia, the movement of that rock stopped.

In the west part of Kefalonia, 36 km away from Argostoli, you will find the Assos beach. It is a pebbly beach having two restaurants ready to satisfy your hunger after swimming.

It is located opposite to the peninsula of Castle and its sandy bottom and shallow waters are making it ideal for children. There are many cafe bars in the area offering snacks and drinks. From Assos beach you can rent a boat that will guide you to the round beaches.

Between the villages Havriata and Chavdata is the Lagadakia beach. It is an unorganized pebbly beach with deep cool waters. It is about a beach suitable for scuba diving.

Next to the cosmopolitan beach of Makris Gialos, in Lassi area is the small beach of Gradakia. It is sandy with fine gray sand suitable for children. From Gradakia swimmers can see the small island of Vardianoi.

The beach is organized with sunbeds, shower and a canteen that offers cold dishes and refreshments.

Fanari beach is near Katavothres of Kefalonia and it is suitable for children. It is a sandy shallow beach that is preferred by the inhabitants of Argostoli because of its low proximity.

The beach is ideal for surfing and kite due to the wind especially the midday hours. It is unorganized and you have an alternative to make camping near the beach.

The Ai Helis beach is an organized long beach with umbrellas and sunbeds. It is located in the south of Kefalonia near Svoranata village. It is a sandy beach with a characteristic grayish color and shallow waters ideal for families. The access to the beach is easy especially if you have your own vehicle as it has a parking area. On the beach you will find a beach bar that offers snacks, coffee and ice creams.

Trapezaki beach is situated near the Moussata village. This is the perfect beach for those who seek quite vacations with clear shallow waters.

It is essential to be equipped with water if you plan to stay long, because there are no shops to provide you with the necessary, in addition to a restaurant, which is not on the beach but at a short distance.

The Mega Lakos beach stands out as the Xi beach for the red sand. It is a beach with shallow crystal clear waters suitable for children very well organized with sun beds and umbrellas and taverns and cafes you can visit after your swim.

The beach Atheras is located in the namesake village. It can be characterized as a quiet beach situated in the peninsula of Palliki. There you will find the marina of Porto Atheras. It is a sandy beach with crystal clear waters, ideal for swimming.

Here you can enjoy your lunch after a swim and to light candles in the Church of St. Spyridon, dating from the last century.
