Beaches

The sandy beaches of Agios Thomas are near the Karavados village. The beaches were named by the homonymous chapel, located at the top of the hill, which you can also visit. There are two sandy beaches. At the small beach there is a tavern and at the larger there is a beach bar for coffee or snacks. You can reach it easily by walking after the rocks.

Lourdas beach is located at Lourdata village just 15 km from Argostoli. Lourdata is built at a privileged location with dense vegetation and fruitful land. The long sandy beach attracts plenty of tourists and locals due to the exceptional location and the crystal clean waters. The sea is quite deep in some parts so a much attention must be paid when small kids swim. There are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas for rent, watersport facilities, beach bars and mini markets. At the area there are many taverns and restaurants.

Escape Club Kefalonia

The beach of Avythos is located close to the village of Kaligata and in a distance of 10 km from Argostoli. It is one of the most impressive and beautiful beaches of Kefalonia, with golden sand and crystal clear waters. It is divided in two parts by an imposing large rock and has a wonderful view to the small island of Dias. The beach has been awarded many times with a “Blue Flag” for the purity of its waters.

The route to the beach is too easy through the village of Kaligata and Svoronata. The beach is well organized with sun beds, umbrellas, showers, canteen and lifeguard. It is an ideal place for swimming and sunbathing. Also it is located in a short distance from the cosmopolitan beaches of Makris and Platis Gialos, in the area of Lassi.

Near the beach of Avythos you can find many options for accommodation and entertainment. Nearby you will find cafes, shops, taverns and restaurants to enjoy fresh fish and the traditional cuisine. The beach of Avythos is an ideal destination for relaxing holidays and ideal beach for children as it has shallow waters that deepen evenly.

Blue Flags

Maistrato beach is located beneath the pine forest of Argostoli and next to a small marina. The beach is sandy, with dense sand and gray. Due to its close proximity to Argostoli the beach is busy, although it is not very organized.

The marina that is located there accommodates fishing boats and tourists from the small cruises.

The Lepeda beach is at the south of Lixouri, 2 km away. It is a sandy beach with red sand and crystal clear waters. Near the beach is a small tavern that serves fresh fish. It is organized and suitable for small children.

The Kounopetra beach is located to Palliki peninsula, near Lixouri. The beach has red sand and clay and has a rock that was moving unstoppable until 1953, because of a geological phenomenon. After the earthquake of 1953 that hit Kefalonia, the movement of that rock stopped.

In the west part of Kefalonia, 36 km away from Argostoli, you will find the Assos beach. It is a pebbly beach having two restaurants ready to satisfy your hunger after swimming.

It is located opposite to the peninsula of Castle and its sandy bottom and shallow waters are making it ideal for children. There are many cafe bars in the area offering snacks and drinks. From Assos beach you can rent a boat that will guide you to the round beaches.

Between the villages Havriata and Chavdata is the Lagadakia beach. It is an unorganized pebbly beach with deep cool waters. It is about a beach suitable for scuba diving.

Next to the cosmopolitan beach of Makris Gialos, in Lassi area is the small beach of Gradakia. It is sandy with fine gray sand suitable for children. From Gradakia swimmers can see the small island of Vardianoi.

The beach is organized with sunbeds, shower and a canteen that offers cold dishes and refreshments.
