Kefalonia

Kefalonia, sometimes referred to as Kefallinia and Kephallenia, is indeed the biggest of the Ionian Islands in west Greece, being Greece’s sixth largest island. It is also a distinct geographical entity within the Ionian Islands. Argostoli is Cephalonia’s state capital. The indigenous wine types “Robola,” “Mavrodafni,” as well as “Kefalonian Moschato” are well-known in Kefalonia. “Robola,” in particular, is among Greece’s top three wine kinds! Assos Kefalonia

There are so many charming towns and villages in Kefalonia, and this is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful! Assos, on the island of Kefalonia, is a lovely town located on the brink of the sea. The hamlet is littered with Venetian ruins, including the remains of an old Venetian castle. Pebbled beaches, historic architecture, and vibrant residences make up Assos. It’s a lovely village with tiny alleyways lined with blossoming vegetation and historic churches.

On the island’s northwestern shore, Assos is a little settlement with only 100 residents. Assos is a romantic resort due to its horseshoe-shaped harbor, gorgeous coastline scenery, and hillside wrapped in pine as well as cypress trees. The village boasts some beautiful Venetian architecture, and if you’re lucky, one of the deserted houses will keep a door ajar, allowing you to peek inside and see what life was like in the past.

Following the 1953 disaster, the French rushed to the rescue of the residents of Assos and assisted in the reconstruction of the community. As a result, the space has been dubbed ‘Paris Square,’ and a memorial monument honoring the French has been placed there. This is near to the water’s edge, and there’s an anchoring and an antique artillery there as well.

Assos Castle

This castle is a magnificent sample of Venetian design. It takes a lengthy trek to get to this castle. The path will lead you to the arching entryway amid beautiful olive groves. Thankfully, among all the ruins, the arch is among the best maintained.

Assos Beaches

In Assos, there are 2 beaches. One with canopies and sunbeds and one without those. The smaller one is usually less crowded. They’re both pebble beaches with beautiful views of the bay and pristine, tranquil waters, making them excellent snorkeling places.

Renting a boat in Assos

In Assos, there will be only one boat renting service. It’s named Conteco, and it’s just on the brink of Assos’ pier. You may discover the nearby beautiful beaches that are only reachable by boat by borrowing a boat. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They have quite a variety of well-kept boats and more luxurious choices. If you don’t feel comfortable sailing, they also offer some excellent trip options.

Mytros Beach

This is the most beautiful beach on the entire island, and it is not to be overlooked. The beach is located among Mount Agia Dynati with Kalon Oros, creating a picturesque shoreline. The water is a vibrant turquoise blue. There’s a cavern and a lot of boulders to bounce off towards the foot of the beach. You could comfortably spend the entire day on this beach, splashing in the sea.

Fiskardo Bay

Fiskardo is a settlement in Kefalonia’s northernmost region. Assos is about a 30-minute drive away from this settlement. Fiskardo is a beautiful harbor surrounded by pastel-colored cottages and big pine trees. This harbor is among the most renowned ports for yachts and sailboats on the Ionian Islands. There are numerous lovely restaurants and martini bars to visit, making it a terrific destination to visit.

Argostoli

Argostoli Town is the headquarters and primary harbor of Kefalonia, and it is located on the island’s south-west coast. This settlement sits situated on the edge of the water, with a bustling harbor. It is not too far from Assos and brings you down the main seaside route, which offers some of Kefalonia’s most breathtaking views. Argostoli is very well recognized for the regular visits by turtle.
